A Message from Our Superintendent To the Students, Staff, and Families of Grant Public Schools, We sincerely hope that everyone has had as good a summer as possible with all of the changes that have come our way. I am a firm believer in trying to find the good in everything; it has been difficult at times to do that over the past several months. Many of us may know someone who has gotten sick, lost a job, or even someone who has passed away from this virus we are all battling. Finding positives in times like this may be challenging, but it is necessary. Being able to reframe challenges and find ways to grow and become better because of this is how we will all grow. We discussed this at our commencement ceremony a few weeks ago; in order to grow we need to get out of our comfort zone. There is no growth in our comfort zone, and no comfort in our growth zone. In speaking to many families, students, and staff members, there has been a significant amount of growth in many areas. Many of our students have rediscovered the enjoyment of having actual in-person conversations with their friends as opposed to always texting or messaging. Many of our families have had the opportunity to really reconnect and spend time together that has not been available before this. Many staff members have taken this time to really push their limits in learning new technologies and finding new ways that they will be communicating content to our students. Personally, I have learned to live, although still somewhat uncomfortably, with countless unknowns. Our staff has been tremendous in realizing that we will all be “first year” teachers, custodians, support staff, administrators, bus drivers, food service workers, secretaries, and just about anything else we can imagine. Every aspect of Grant Public Schools has had to be adjusted in order to comply with the requirements for opening on August 31. While this can seem overwhelming at times, we are making sure that we are using this time to find the things that will make us better at what we do for our students every single day. The energy so far has been amazing; there are nerves for sure, but the positive energy and excitement to see our students again is by far our biggest catalyst. We have had many students participating in their summer conditioning for their respective sports; that has been so fun to see. Commencement was an amazing experience for all of us, and it became more apparent than ever that we want to be together again soon. If we continue to do our very best to stay safe, we will make strides towards this sooner than we think. We invite you to review our safe start return to school plan . Our top priority is always the safety and security of our students and staff members. There is a lot more involved in doing that now. That is ok, as everyone deserves our very best. Hope to see you soon. Go Tigers!
